Joel Meyerowitz street photography

Hey Photography 2A Folks,
A bit late....but better late than never~ here is an interesting portrait of the street photographer Joel Meyerowitz from the early 80's. Here is another more recent 7 minute film which is more recent.

They are pretty awesome if you can stick them out. You see him doing his thing on the streets of NYC which is always good to see someone doing their "thing".

Bio: Joel Meyerowitz is an award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in over 150 exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. His first book, Cape Light, has sold over 100,000 copies during its 25-year life. He is the author of 14 other books including the recent Tuscany. Joel is a Guggenheim fellow and a recipient of both the NEA and NEH awards. His work is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and many others.

some interesting small videos on different historical photo folks

Here are some interesting  videos that might interest you regarding Annie Leibowitz, Henri Cartier
Bresson, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton etc. I think you can get something different from these artist's work when you hear them speak about it. some more contemporary artists: Loretta lux, Samantha Everton, Nina Katchadourian, Daniela Edburg, Irina Davis, Rineke Dijkstra, Hendrik Kerstens, Dan Burn-forti, etc etc.

Check out this site for some excellent portraiture from England by many different artists who are using different styles: (here's one for you Joanna!) but his other stuff is great! (also!)

Also, when I mentioned the 'Creative Live" site, here is a small video from Bambi Cantrell that is on Youtube: She is pretty awesome and so is the second link to Sue Bryce. Both talk about working with humans!! and shooting and doing what they do.

Bambi Cantrell

Sue Bryce:

and also about posing:

This not for everyone! But it might interest some of you.

Also, here is a really good tip for making some large reflectors which stand up on their own. Check out the video and skip the first bit and then skip forward to the minute:  2.51 to then end to make a reflector life size and you can also buy one of these insulation boards (polystyrene...I spoke about this)  and half it (between 2 of you) and then you can take them on location with you!

Melissa Rodwell

This website is made by my favorite fashion photographer of all time. I got to meet her earlier this school year at a workshop she hosted in NYC. Melissa Rodwell is her name and she is totally devoted to what she does.

http://www.fashionphotographyblog.com/

Her website explains different aspects of the fashion photography world and the lingo you must know in order to communicate with the models and the designers.
